Service Grid Revisions Effective 8/1/08 and
Re-Registration of Some Services

Service Grid Revision:
The Service Grid is being revised effective 8/1/08.  The new Service Grid version date is 8/1/08.  These revisions are taking place consistent with changes in MaineCare policy.

  1. Procedure codes for the following services are being removed and replaced by new codes:
    1. Section 58 Therapy Services
    2. Section 65 Outpatient therapy and Medication Management,
    3. Section 100 Psychological Services
    4. Section 111 Substance Abuse Services
    5. The typical authorization for Outpatient Therapy for adults and children is now 180 days and 32 units.   The typical authorization for Substance Abuse Services is unchanged.
  2. There is a new procedure code for both adult and child Section 65 Residential Crisis Units.
  3. Procedure codes for all PNMI Leave days have been removed.

Re-Registration of Services Affected by Changed Procedure Codes
All services with changed procedure codes must re-register those services with APS Healthcare.  Existing authorizations will cease to exist in MECMS on 8/1/08.  Only the following services must re-register.  Services that must re-register are:

  1. Outpatient Services, for Adult, Substance Abuse, Child services and Psychologists.
  2. Medication Management for Adult and Child Services.
  3. Section 65 Residential Crisis Units

One Month “Window” to Re-Register, for Outpatient and Med Management Only
Providers must use the new procedure codes to bill for services, starting 8/1/08.  In order to allow providers adequate time to re-register all clients, a MECMS PA Billing Number will not be required for these services until 9/1/08.

In other words, providers may bill for Outpatient and Med Management services in August, using the new procedure codes, and are not required to submit a MECMS PA Billing Number with their claims.  This is intended to allow providers adequate time to re-register members, without interrupting claims submissions.

Starting 9/1/08, all MaineCare claims for these services must be submitted with a MECMS PA Billing Number.
